RAPID PROTOTYPING
Slide 15
Rapid prototyping makes it possible to produce a three-dimensional (3D) representation of the part.
From a digital model, by printing, we can obtain a prototype part with the same dimensions but made in plastic, plaster[1] or ceramic.
In this case, the part is made of plastic and was formed by a printer[2] which deposits successive layers of plastic.
The interest for prototyping is especially:
To verify the insertion of the part in its mechanical set-up,
To be able to show it to potential clients before manufacturing it.
